Partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (PHPA) usually comes in powder form. It is a water-soluble polymer that needs to be mixed with water to form fracturing fluid. Emulsion forms of PHPA are relatively rarely used in oil drilling and fracturing fluids; it is more common to mix PHPA in powder form with water.
